Design Centre is a service and trade centre developing on two floors. The ground floor hosts three large shops, siding a central aisle that crosses the building from the western to the eastern side, tapering towards the latter. The two farther ends of the building host the stairs leading to the first floor. Here spaces are organised around the empty areas ofthe various yards, with offices and corridors overlooking them and yet having the same axis as the ground floor aisle. These voids, besides providing lighting to the rooms, host temporary art installations, exhibitions and presentations of new products. From the outside the building looks compact, an effect enhanced by the Corten steel panelling hiding the ventilated facade and wrapping around the fronts, interrupted only when volumes overlook the yards, standingout for their natural larch wood panelling.
