Multiphysics Lab is a building hosting aresearch activity. The ground floor is accessedboth from the western and eastern front andhosts technological equipment, energy plants,services, a surgery with an independentaccess (on the eastern side), independentaccess to the guests quarters upstairs andthe laboratories. The ground floor does notdevelop on the same quota: it lowers downnear to the square yard in the western area,countering the visual impact of the buildingby partially hiding it. Besides the squareone, another longitudinal yard spreads alongthe northern side. Upstairs, the buildingdevelops with the two volumes of the guestquarters, westwards, and the multipurposeroom, eastwards. Between them, the emptyarea of the garden-square, in relation with avisible surrounding landscape evoked by thevery volumes marking its boundaries on theshort sides, suggesting with their structurethe typical features of contextual architecture.The garden-square, open to the public, offersaccess from the outside with two flights ofstairs, on the northern and southern sides.
